I am sure there will be more wind to come over the next month but for the last few days the water has been flat and we have had great conditions. Come up and see me if you want to play! See you soon

It’s been a crazy long monsoon this year, but windguru is promising an end to the north east wind in a few days. When the wind turns to the south east behind Khao Ra mountain, Chaloklum will flatten out and the full wakeboard season can begin.

Lotteries help build wakeboard dreams

Lotteries help build wakeboard dreams

Oh, how time flies. The once obscure water sport known as wakeboarding has since become one of the most popular sports phenomena in the past decade or so. More and more people are gravitating towards the exhilarating and adrenaline-pumping sport. What most people don’t know, however, is that a large number of wakeboarders have lotteries to thank for letting them live their dreams.

Lotteries have long been used to fund a wide variety of government programs. Everything from schools to housing projects gets a little slice of the big lottery pie. California, for example, estimated that {Powerball} sales this year would provide well over $50 million for public school funds.

Sports programs also draw great benefits. This practice is perhaps most evident in the UK, where Sport England has distributed over £2 billion of National Lottery funds to sports governing bodies and programs since 1994. Yes, all those eagle-eyed [lottery.net] observers aren’t the only ones who stand to win big thanks to the lottery.
One such recipient is {British Water Ski & Wakeboard}, a group that seeks to develop and promote the sport of wakeboarding from the grassroots level all the way to elite sporting events. BWSW is also the group to approach if you want a water ski or a wakeboard license in Britain.

Another program that is being kept afloat by lottery-fueled sports funding is {Sportivate}. The initiative, which forms part of Sport England’s mass participation legacy program called ‘Places, People, Play’, is particularly noteworthy in that it targets the non-sporty types and tries to get them interested in sports. Wakeboarding is again at the top of Sportivate’s list of activities along with judo, tennis, athletics, and parkour. Sportivate was launched in June 2011 and has since secured enough funding to run until March 2017.

Who’d have thought it, right? The next time you buy a lottery ticket or scratch card, know that you might just be helping give someone a chance at achieving their sports dreams.

Wakeboarding season starts on 3rd of January

Monsoon has arrived

19 Nov
November 19, 2013

Monsoon has arrived and looks like it is here to stay for a few weeks.  Finally gave up hope of anymore flat water this month and have taken the boats out the water.  Time for repairs and preparation for the coming high season.  I am aiming to get the boat back in the water for next full moon, which will be around the 17th of December so unfortunately no wake sports until then.
