Getting here
From Bangkok
Travel by bus or rail to Surat Thani province, and catch a ferry from one of the piers. You can buy a joint ticket easily in Bangkok, especially on Khao San Road. Koh Phangan is about 2-3 hours from Surat Thani and 45 minutes from Koh Samui by boat.
Raja Ferry runs services from Don Sak pier (40 kilometers from Surat Thani town) to Koh Phangan daily, leaving every 2 hours from 6am to 6pm. Seatran ferries depart from here as well. Songserm operates express boat services departing from Lamphun pier (10 kilometers from Surat Thani) to Ko Phangan daily at 8am. Bus services to both piers are available from Surat Thani. You can also get here with the Lomprayah catamaran from Chumphon via Koh Tao. Lomprayah also has comfortable buses from Bangkok to Chumphon.
If you want to catch a plane, you can fly with Bangkok Air direct to Koh Samui, they leave every hour from 6am-10pm.
From Koh Samui
If you are going from Samui you have a lot of alternatives: catch an express boat, catamaran or a small ferry from Nathon, Maenam, Big Buddha, Bangrak or Bo Phut. Or, if you are in a hurry, a speed boat from Maenam or Bo Phut is perfect. Please check with any travel agency or just go to the piers and buy the ticket there.
From Tong Sala, Koh Phangan
The best place to arrive on Koh Phangan is Tong Sala pier, if you arrive at Haad Rin or Ban Tai pier you will need to get a taxi to Tong Sala, then another taxi from Tong Sala to Chaloklum village in the north of the island.
